Courses are delivered online and may begin any time after receipt of enrolment and payment.

Course fee includes
Work sheets from the Engineering Drawing text book by A.W. Boundy. (Copies of this text book are available for sale through I4Drafting)

You will be required to download a student version of the Inventor® software from the Autodesk website.

Achievement
Certificate in Computer Drafting (Inventor® 3D modelling).

Trainees must:

  • Complete all 26 tutorials over 3 months (Approximately 100 hours tutorial time)
  • Complete all weekly assignments (2-3 Tutorials and approximately eight hours a week)
  • Provide their own computer, which is capable of running the Inventor® Professional software (check specifications on Autodesk website).

Tutorials 1 to 6

Topics Skills covered
  • Create 3D independent components from Engineering Drawing text book by A. W. Boundy.
  • Open Inventor and set up course folder & project
  • Open existing CS BRACKET and demonstrate the use of - mouse, cube, history and viewing options.
  • Learn new part template, save.
  • Learn drawing rectangle, project geometry, mirror, constraints, extrude, fillet.
  • Create hole, use of planes from model origin, slice graphics, work point & hole.
  • Using an offset work plane, draw freehand curved line, tangent constraint, rotate.
  • Offset plane from centre, slot centres, shell, threaded hole, create a line on set angle.

Topics Skills covered
  • Create 2D drawings of independent components.
  • Modify Drawing Template and save. Scale, Hidden detail, Shading.
  • Place drawing – Plan, Front elevation, End elevation, Sectional Elevation, Auxiliary view, Isometric view.
  • Dimension. Identify views.

Tutorials 12 to 20

Topics Skills covered
  • Create 3D independent components and assemble.
  • Create 2D drawings of assemblies, including bill of materials.
  • Creation of components using skills from above, plus - Loft. Extrude Asymmetrical. Use CoiL and input requirements.
  • Assembly of components using - Place views. Constraints – Mate, Insert, Tangent. Re-align FRONT view if required. Library components.
  • Drawing of Assemblies using - Place assembled view. Turn off selected parts for sectioning.
  • Select Plan, Elevations, sectional elevation, Isometric.
  • Dimension. Identify views as Plan, Elevation, Sectional Elevation, Isometric.
  • Bill of materials. Identify part numbers inside bubbles.

  • Create 3D presentation files from above assemblies.
  • Open Presentation template. Place view. Tweek components. Run video.

  • Pack &l; go – Perspective – Viewing options.
